Dr Murkin is a Professor and Director of Cardiac Anesthesiology at the University of Western of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. He has pioneered research and clinical initiatives in in monitoring for brain protection during cardiac surgery. He has an extensive publication history and serves on the editorial board of several international journals including Seminars in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, The Heart Surgery Forum and Cardiovascular Engineering. Dr. Murkin is co-founder and Co-Chair of the Outcomes Consensus Conference, also known as the Key West Meeting. This annual collaboration, held from 1997 to the present, focuses on neurological consequences of surgery, particularly of cardiac surgery and the potential to influence clinical outcomes through monitoring and interventional techniques. |
