John Sharpe, a director at Kroll Zolfo Cooper, has more than 18 years of combined experience in public accounting, private industry and consulting. His restructuring expertise has focused on advising troubled companies through financial and operational reorganizations. John is currently involved in the day-to-day turnaround effort of the $4 billion automotive supplier, Collins & Aikman.
John has worked on both the creditor and debtor sides of distressed-company situations, including public record bankruptcies and company restructurings with debt loads ranging from $50 million to more than $3 billion. His previous engagements include Mirant, where he was responsible for assessing the financial and operational viability of a stand-alone plan of reorganization for the Unsecured Creditors Committee of Mirant Americas Generation. In addition, he served as associate director of restructuring at NRG Energy.
Prior to joining Kroll Zolfo Cooper, John served in several senior financial executive positions including chief accounting officer, treasurer and controller for various public companies. At each of these organizations, he served as principal liaison for attorneys, consultants, bankers, public accountants and other professionals.
John holds a B.B.A. in accounting from North Carolina State University and is a certified public accountant.
