John F. Shoch, Ph.D., partner at Alloy Ventures, joined Craig Taylor as a venture capitalist in 1985. Prior to this, he was President of the Xerox Office Systems Division. He joined Xerox in 1971 and worked at its Palo Alto Research Center (PARC) where he helped develop the Ethernet, a local area network system. In 1980, he became the assistant to the CEO of Xerox. In 1982, John became President of the Office Systems Division, developing networked office systems derived from Xerox PARC research. He was a director of and founding investor in Conductus and Remedy. He is also a director of several private companies, including Ensenda, Kasenna, Knowledge Networks, and MontaVista Software. John received a B.A. (1971) in political science, an M.S. (1977), and a Ph.D. (1979) in computer science, all from Stanford University. |
