Professional Background
A 30-year veteran of the insurance and reinsurance industry, Mr. Threlfall began his career with Fireman's Fund in New York City in 1974. He joined Guy Carpenter & Co., in 1976 and worked for that company for 27 years.
At Guy Carpenter, he was a broker in the Ocean Marine Property Facultative Departments. He eventually became managing director of company's Property-Casualty Division. He also was a managing director of the Marsh Group.
In 2003 he established a new facultative reinsurance unit for Palmer & Cay, Inc., becoming the unit's president and chief executive officer. Following an acquisition of Palmer & Cay in 2005, he and the other members of that facultative operation joined Collins.
Mr. Threlfall was responsible for the complete redesign and restructuring of the faculative operations for a major national reinsurance broker, centralizing those operations in Hartford and defining the resources and operations needed for the effective delivery of services to clients in the property and casualty facultative segments.
He has also developed two successful managing general agencies.
