Wheeler brings 30 years of business experience in the biomedical and diagnostic fields to Firefly Medical. Prior to founding MicroPhage Incorporated, Mr. Wheeler founded Xtrana, Inc. (NASDAQ: XTRN) where he served as President and CEO, a molecular diagnostics company specializing in nucleic acid extraction and detection. Previous to Xtrana, he served as Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development at Xenometrix, Inc., a molecular toxicology company, from 1993 to 1997. From 1992 to 1993, Mr. Wheeler was Director of Sales and Marketing for Research Biochemicals, Ltd., and from 1987 to 1992, Mr. Wheeler was employed at Charles River Laboratories where he held positions including Director of Operations and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Prior to 1987, he held positions in sales, marketing and strategic business planning in both the United States and Europe with Becton Dickinson Company. Mr. Wheeler received his MBA from Pace University, New York in 1986 and his Bachelor�s degree in biology from the University of Bridgeport in 1970. Mr. Wheeler currently serves on the board of directors for the Colorado BioScience Association, comprised of the former Colorado Biotechnology Association and the former Colorado Medical Device Association.
