Dr. John Ypsilantis received his BSc (Pure Mathematics and Computer Science) in 1984, BE (hons) and PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1986 and 1993 respectively, all from the University of Sydney, Australia.
Dr. Ypsilantis' professional experience spans over 19 years in engineering-oriented software R&D, systems integration and program management and consultation, within the areas of utility operations, SCADA and broadcast technologies. He has been involved with a number of major Australian and international infrastructure projects in hydropower, natural gas distribution, telecommunications, radio broadcast and water supply over that time.
Dr. Ypsilantis founded Heuristics Australia Pty Ltd in 1997, whose clients include Australian Gas Light Ltd, MCI, Invensys, and the State Rail Authority of NSW. He currently serves as Managing Director of Heuristics Australia.
Dr. Ypsilantis has authored or co-authored a number of papers and patents over that time. He has been the recipient or co-recipient of a number of awards, including state and Australian Engineering Excellence awards. He is the inventor of the proprietary Sequence Graph machine learning algorithm, which has been developed and commercialized within Heuristics Australia's intelligent decision-support systems.
Dr. Ypsilantis is a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, a Chartered Professional Engineer, Associate of the Australian Computer Society and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA. |
