As vice president of R&D for application and system software at National Instruments Jon Bellin is responsible for global application and system software development. Since joining NI in 1986 Bellin has played a critical leadership role in the development of NI software.
One year after starting at NI as a software engineer in the GPIB group Bellin joined the team that created National Instruments LabWindows. He went on to manage the group in 1989 and started the NI LabWindows/CVI team in 1991 which he led for more than seven years. In 1996 Bellin also began managing the NI TestStand and IVI groups. He further expanded his role in 1998 when he became director of software engineering adding National Instruments LabVIEW ComponentWorks and instrument driver software development to his areas of focus.
In 2001 Bellin was promoted to director of R&D for application and system software leading software development efforts for the NI-DAQmx API and the software installer architecture that is now used in all NI products. In addition to these responsibilities Bellin manages the company�s international R&D groups in China India Germany and Romania. He also has helped establish the high technical bar for recruiting software engineers led the development of the software engineering process portion of new product development and coinvented nine patents.
Bellin earned his bachelor�s degree in philosophy at the University of California Berkeley and his master�s degree in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining NI Bellin spent 10 years working with the Internal Revenue Service.
