Jon started in the audio business studying at the University of Minnesota as an Electrical Engineering and Business major, served in the Navy as a radar operator and repair technician and then managed hi-fi stores while recording bands on the side. In 1975 he formed AVC Systems, a professional audio dealer/contractor. A Chicago branch opened in 1980 and soon became the largest pro audio dealer in the Midwest with yearly sales over $5 Million by 1986. In 1987 the company merged with Vaughn/Video Midwest with a combined sales of over $10 Million in professional audio and video equipment.
One of the first projects Jon designed was the sound system for the renowned Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis. AVC went on to design and install corporate boardrooms, teleconferencing systems, presentation and training facilities, recording and broadcast studios, remote trucks, sound reinforcement systems for convention centers, night clubs, bands, churches, performing arts centers, etc.
A list of clients would include almost every major audio and video recording, post production studio and broadcast facility in Minneapolis and Chicago. It would include many of the corporate headquarters of the major corporations and banks in the Midwest for boardrooms, teleconferencing facilities and training rooms, and numerous sound reinforcement systems where high quality sound was a necessity.
In 1990, Jon formed Bormann Marketing, Inc. with the same enthusiasm to build another successful company based on excellence in customer service, knowledge of the products, and strong relationships built over twenty years of serving the professional audio/video community. In addition to overall customer satisfaction, Jon concentrates on the key accounts in all territories and the audio/video contractor market in Minneapolis/St. Paul. |
