Jonathan A. Ater
Chair
Jonathan Ater, Chair of Ater Wynne LLP, has more than 40 years of experience as a strategic advisor to business enterprises and public bodies. He works with senior managers, boards of directors, and professionals in connection with a broad array of business and policy issues, including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, healthcare, personnel matters, energy and raw material supply, environmental and legislative matters, property acquisition and development, commercial contracting, and dispute resolution. He has had particular experience with emerging businesses and turn arounds.
His clients include healthcare professionals and institutions; basic industries such as steel, aluminum, polysilicon, ferrosilicon, forest products, and electric utilities; and high technology companies. Many of his client companies are engaged in trade throughout the world.
Jonathan serves as principal or general counsel for several corporate entities, and the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland. He is also an experienced arbitrator and mediator, serving under the auspices of the Arbitration Service of Portland.
Jonathan was appointed by Governor Ted Kulongoski to serve on the Oregon Health Fund Board. He also serves as vice-chair of the Oregon Health Policy Commission and was co-chair of the Governor�s 2004 Mental Health Task Force. He has served on two working groups that advise senior management of the Oregon Department of Human Resources. Jonathan is a director of Axio Research Corporation. He is past chair of the Albertina Kerr Foundation and a steward of the First Unitarian Church Foundation.
From 1994 to 1998, Jonathan served as chair of the Oregon Commission on Children and Families. He also previously served as a member of the State Board of Higher Education and the Board of Bar Examiners.
