Jonathan A. Maizel is a partner with Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP and has been a member of the Firm's Project Finance Group since 1989. Mr. Maizel heads the firm's Washington DC Project Finance practice. He was the resident Project Finance partner in the firm's Tokyo Office in 1998 and 1999.
Mr. Maizel's recent experience includes representing the Senior Lenders in Phase I of the $3.2 billion Nigerian Satellite Oil Fields Financing sponsored by ExxonMobil and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; representing the Overseas Private Investment Corporation in the Yemen LNG Project; representing the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and a syndicate of commercial lenders in the $1.2 billion NGL II natural gas liquids expansion project sponsored by ExxonMobil and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; representing KGen Partners LLC in its $450 million refinancing of a portfolio of merchant power facilities acquired from Duke Energy; representing Reservoir Capital in its acquisition of certain power assets from Sithe Energies; representing the Export-Import Bank of the United States in the financing of the 278 MW Naco Nogales independent power station in Mexico; representing the commercial banks in the $1.4 billion financing of a portfolio of 6 US merchant power stations owned by American National Power (designated by PFI as 2001 North American Deal of the Year); and representing the sponsors in the privatization and expansion of the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru.
Mr. Maizel's petrochemical experience includes the representation of SACE in the ongoing restructuring of the senior debt of a polyethylene project in Brazil.
Mr. Maizel has been named one of the world's leading Project Finance attorneys by numerous publications, including The Best Lawyers in America, Lawdragon, Who's Who Legal, Chambers USA, Guide to the World's Leading Project Finance Lawyers and Best Lawyers for the Washington, DC area.
