Jonathan M. Makarowitz concentrates his practice on economic development and commercial real estate. He has had experience in complex construction loan transactions for projects in New York City, especially with subsidized building projects for the low to middle income market in the five boroughs of New York.

In particular, Jonathan has become familiar with the workings of several government and civic programs that include the New Foundations Program, NEP Program, Homeworks, Third Party Transfer Program, the Participation Loan Program and the New Homes Program. In the course of his practice, he completes dozens of construction loan transactions per year ranging from $1 million to $25 million in value.
In addition, Jonathan handles complex multimillion-dollar asset-based lending transactions and also works on financings related to corporate restructurings.
As lender's counsel for major financial institutions, Jonathan has provided assistance in many complex single bank and syndicated asset-based lending facilities.
Another facet of Jonathan's practice involves representing issuers and underwriters in connection with bond financings, as well as trustees in connection with international project financings.
Jonathan's recent representations include:
A $28 million asset-based lending transaction for a major bank on behalf of a company in the lighting products industry
Several multimillion-dollar construction loan transactions for major banks on behalf of development companies involved with low-income housing projects in New York City
An amateur concert pianist for many years, Jonathan continues to enjoy playing in less formal venues. |
