Jonathan Berger is a member of Seward & Kissel's Real Estate group. Mr. Berger has practiced law since 1966. He joined Seward & Kissel in 1989, became a partner in 1992, and is now Counsel.
Mr. Berger has represented investors (both institutional and private), lenders, managers and developers in a wide range of transactions, including acquisitions and divestitures, financings, joint ventures, fixed and operating leases, management agreements, development agreements, working capital and cash flow shortfall loan facilities, license agreements and a variety of workout arrangements.
Prior to joining Seward & Kissel, Mr. Berger spent seven years as the Chief Development Officer for Hilton International, a position that entailed the structuring and negotiation of hotel transactions throughout the world as well as the drafting of all pertinent legal instruments. Since joining Seward & Kissel, Mr. Berger has been involved in the development, purchase, sale, licensing, financing and refinancing of hotels in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and the Pacific Rim on behalf of management companies, investors, lenders and developers as well as the furnishing of advice as to the structuring of these transactions.
Mr. Berger received a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, phi beta kappa from Rutgers University in 1962, a J.D. degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1965, and an M.I.A. from Columbia University School of International Affairs in 1966.
Mr. Berger is a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York - former member of Committee on Administrative Law, and the International Bar Association. |
