Jonathan Cohen is a specialist in public affairs communications and marketing with a successful record of helping corporate, governmental and non-profit institutions meet their most important strategic goals. A strong writer with excellent interpersonal and relationship building abilities, Jonathan has well-honed skills in media and investor relations, speechwriting, strategic communications planning, and issue and client advocacy.
Before joining The Weiser Group, Jonathan served as vice president for corporate communications for Mercator Software. As the company's chief public spokesman, Jonathan helped successfully lead Mercator's restructuring and turnaround efforts culminating in the company's sale to Ascential Software in 2003. While at Mercator, Jonathan was responsible for designing and executing internal and external communications strategies, building the media and investor relations functions, guiding relations with industry analysts and other critical communications activities, including the development of sales and marketing collateral, advertising and website design.
A journalist by training, Jonathan began his career with the Wall Street Journal Radio Network in 1982. Subsequently, he joined the staff of New York City Mayor Ed Koch, where he managed key aspects of high-priority special projects such as voting regulation reforms, drug enforcement policy development, and crisis management. In 1991, Jonathan became director of public policy for Joseph E. Seagram and Sons, Inc, where he advised Edgar Bronfman, Sr. and served as Mr. Bronfman's liaison to governments and political and religious officials. Jonathan left the company in 1995 to become the publisher of Commentary, a leading journal of public policy and cultural criticism.
Jonathan holds a J.D. from New York Law School and a B.A. from Kenyon College. An occasional book reviewer for the Baltimore Sun and other publications, Jonathan lives with his wife and family in Norwalk, Connecticut where he enjoys boating, biking and skiing. |
