Joe has been with Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams, Ltd., since 1986, and was named director in 1997. He is the firm's tax specialist on a variety of corporate and individual tax issues. Widely respected for his innovative mind, Joe's philosophy includes finding multiple potential solutions to problems so that his clients select the best result and understand the pros and cons of the selection. His specialties include tax structuring and tax compliance matters, as well as tax planning, business planning, and consultation for owners and key executives. In addition, he represents taxpayers in front of the Examination and Collection Divisions of the Internal Revenue Service, as well as state taxing authorities.
Joe earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated with college honors and high distinction in accounting. He then obtained his Master's of Science in Taxation degree (MST) from DePaul University, with distinction. He was also awarded an Elijah Watt Sells Award with high distinction from the AICPA as a result of outstanding scores achieved on the Uniform Certified Public Accounting Examination.
Joe is a member of the AICPA and the ICPAS. In addition, he is a member of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce and an active participant of the Small Business Council. He has authored articles on manufacturing tax credits, year-end tax planning topics, alternative minimum tax, and tax basis issues related to pass-through entities (S Corporations and LLCs). |
