Joe has a commercial litigation practice, with extensive experience in construction matters and intellectual property disputes. He joined the firm in 1999 after practicing in Durham for eight years. Joe has litigated cases in state and federal courts throughout the country, and has conducted numerous jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations and mediations.
Joe has represented owners, contractors, architects and sureties in numerous public and private construction projects. He also has worked extensively with clients involved in a wide variety of trademark and copyright disputes in state and federal courts, as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
In addition to resolving disputes, Joe has drafted, reviewed and negotiated scores of contracts involving a wide range of goods and services, including construction contracts for several multi-million dollar projects in the Research Triangle Park.
Joe graduated summa cum laude from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Music in 1983, and received his J.D. with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991, where he was an editor of the North Carolina Law Review |
