Mr. Baumann's practice focuses on state government law and government relations. Prior to graduating from law school, he was a legal analyst with the Michigan Department of Community Health. At the Michigan Department of Community Health, Mr. Baumann dealt with health care issues involving federal and state confidentiality laws, emergency preparedness, Michigan's Mental Health Code, and state and federal law related to Medicaid and other social safety net programs.
Previously, Mr. Baumann worked in the Michigan House of Representatives as a Legislative Aide to the Chairman of the Appropriations Committee. In that role, he managed constituent relations, assisted in development and progression of state budget bills, and aided the Representative in researching and understanding complex pieces of legislation. Mr. Baumann worked extensively with Michigan Departments of Transportation and Corrections budgets, telecommunications regulation, and health related concerns.
In 2000, Mr. Baumann was a Fellow with the Michigan Political Leadership Program.
