Joseph R. Wright, Jr. is President and Chief Executive Officer of PanAmSat, Inc., one of the largest providers of satellite/fiber communications services around the globe. Prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer in 2001, he was Chairman of GRC Intl., Inc., a public company that provided advanced IT technologies to government and commercial customers, and was sold to AT&T in 2000. He was also Co-Chairman of Baker & Taylor Holdings, Inc., an international book/video/software distribution company. From 1989-1994, he was Executive Vice President and Vice Chairman of W. R. Grace Company, a global chemicals and material company. In the 1980s, he served in the U.S. Government under President Reagan as Deputy Secretary of Commerce, and then as Deputy Director and Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Executive Office of the President and a member of the Cabinet. Prior to his time in Washington, he was President of two Citibank subsidiaries and was a partner of Booz, Allen and Hamilton. Mr. Wright currently serves on the Board of Advisors/Directors of AT&T Government Solutions, Titan Corporation, Proxim, Barington Capital, Terremark Worldwide, and Verso Technologies. He is a member of the Federal Communication Commission's Network Reliability and Interoperability Council as well as the Media Security and Reliability Council, and was on former President Bush's Export Council, and the current President Bush's Commission on the U.S. Postal Service Reform. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Council for Excellence in Government, Chief Executives Organization, Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget and the New York Economic Club. |
