Dr. Joseph V. LeBlanc is vice president, research and development, for Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He oversees activities at the research and development center located in Carol Stream, IL, as well as Smurfit Group�s research and development center located in Talence, France. These two centers provide world class laboratory facilities for process improvement, new product development and customer service.
Prior to joining the company, LeBlanc spent 15 years at Union Camp, working in research and development, operations, engineering, and environmental and technical services. During a portion of this tenure, he held a faculty position in the chemical engineering department at Drexel University.
LeBlanc earned a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts in chemical engineering. He also holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is an active member of the American Forest and Paper Association; he has served as chairman of the Containerboard Technical Group; and he is a member of the Chief Technical Officers Committee. In addition, he as active in TAPPI and serves as member of the Research Management Committee. |
