Joseph Hennessey Biography :

Mr. Joseph G. Hennessey is a Senior Programmer at Kennedy Krieger Institute. He is also a Research Associate in Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

Biographical Sketch:

Mr. Hennessey received a BS degree from Penn State University in 1991, and a MS degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1995. He joined the Hopkins faculty in 1992 and the KKI faculty in 1993. Mr. Hennessey is a Senior Programmer at Kennedy Krieger Institute as well as a Research Associate in Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a Ph. D candidate in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University.

He was awarded the Cum Laude Research Award in 1991 for an outstanding Scientific Paper on Cross Sectional Imaging. He was awarded the Certificate of Merit in 1992 for for Radiologic Evaluation of Renal Masses: A Computer-Based Teaching Program, Rabushka LS, Goldman SM, Fishman EK, Hennessey JG, Nixon MS. He was awarded the Imaging Software & Methods for Mapping Brain Development. Grant # HD31715. Title: The Human Brain Project: Phase I Feasibility Studies. Senior Programmer and Co-Investigator in 1994. He was awarded the Masters of Science awarded With Honors in 1995 for Computer Science.

Research Summary:

Joseph Hennessey is interested in the visualization and quantitative analysis of MR brain data. He writes the programs he develops in java so that the software can be used on a wide variety of computer hardware. The software is licensed under the GPL license, so researchers around the world can build on the work. Joseph Hennessey is interested in taking advantage of the recent advances in graphics hardware to enable complex, high-quality real time visualization of brain data.
