Joseph Watts offers more than 30 years of experience in a variety of enrollment management positions at the University of North Carolina System and Appalachian State University (NC). As a consultant for Noel-Levitz, Mr. Watts specializes in strategic enrollment planning, admissions and retention research, and admissions office strategy and operations. Mr. Watts currently works for the University of North Carolina System, with a staff focused primarily on improving access to higher education. He serves as an advocate for K-16 initiatives and collaborations at the state and national levels.
For most of his career, Mr. Watts directed Appalachian State�s enrollment services and admissions offices, and also oversaw the offices of orientation, advising, learning assistance, and the registrar. Mr. Watts was responsible for developing and implementing annual enrollment plans focusing on both recruitment and retention. Enrollment results credited to his leadership include higher quality freshman classes, greater geographic diversity, and larger incoming class sizes overall.
Associations and education: Mr. Watts is a long-time member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and the National Association of College Admissions Counseling (NACAC). In addition, he has been involved with a number of statewide and national educational committees, including five separate task forces on improving the quality of higher education. Mr. Watts holds an M.A. in student personnel from Appalachian State University. |
