Joyce O'Keefe, Highland Park, was appointed in 2003. Joyce O'Keefe was appointed to the Board in 2003. She is a resident of Highland Park where she served on the city council for ten years. She is the Deputy Director of Openlands, a nonprofit conservation organization that works throughout the Chicago region to protect and enhance public open space. Ms. O'Keefe has been instrumental in a number of land preservation projects, including the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie and Fort Sheridan. Ms. O'Keefe served on the Land and Water Resources Task Force (1992-1993), the Smart Growth Task Force established by the Illinois House in 1998 and the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, which she chaired from 2000-2002. She is currently a board member of the Illinois Environmental Council. |
