Dr. Joyce Thompson is highly experienced in the magnetic and optical sciences and is a member of QSecure's technology advisory board and an active consultant with the company. During her 7 years at ReadRite, Inc., the world's largest independent magnetic head manufacturer, she excelled as Director of FA Engineering, responsible for magnetic science and recording technology. Dr. Thompson coauthored patents and numerous technical papers on magnetic media and optical recording technology. Dr. Thompson has also contributed as an engineering scientist in optical network device development and is responsible for scientific contributions and engineering support in crystallographic structures, static magnetic MEMS technology initiatives, and novel emissive structures. Dr. Thompson was Managing Director and Co-Founder of TEMAC (Thai Engineering Materials Analysis Company), a $4 million joint-venture elemental analysis laboratory with Kawasaki. This independent research and analysis laboratory was the first such company in Southeast Asia, and it provided quality testing, materials research and characterization, and failure analysis services for such clients as Coca-Cola, Seagate, AMD, Hana Microelectronics Group, and other prominent companies. Prior to TEMAC, Dr. Thompson was a 3-5 materials research scientist at the Watkins-Johnson Palo Alto facility. Dr. Thompson graduated from MIT with a B.S. in materials science and an M.S. in metallurgy. Dr. Thompson completed her doctoral thesis on magnetic recording materials and received her Ph.D. in materials science from Stanford University. |
