Jubran Whalan, Vice-President, Trading and Delivery Optimization, is responsible for TransAlta�s commodity trading and origination business. He is part of TransAlta�s Corporate Development and Marketing senior leadership team.
Prior to this role, Mr. Whalan was Director, Trading and Delivery Optimization where he was responsible for energy portfolio strategy and management. This includes financial and physical energy purchases and sales for proprietary and asset activities, business transactions and portfolio analysis, structured transactions and scheduling of physical deliveries of energy supplies and the electrical generation output from each asset. Mr. Whalan joined TransAlta in 2002 and has held various energy marketing positions within the company.
Before joining TransAlta, Mr. Whalan was head of product development and integration at Trade Spark, a Cantor Fitzgerald Company. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Whalan worked for Enron in a variety of roles including Director, Commodity Risk Management where he was responsible for managing the risk associated with Enron�s aggregated customer retail load and analyzing complex retail transactions. In addition, he was responsible for negotiating and executing hedging and trading strategies and developing and implementing innovative pricing structures.
Mr. Whalan has a bachelor of science from Texas A&M University in Maritime Administration. |
