Judy's practice spans a full range of health care matters, including transactional, regulatory and litigation issues. One focus of Judy's practice is her representation of clients in operational issues for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, including guiding clients through the Department of Health and Hospitals' licensing procedures and advising clients on policy and procedure manuals and other operational documents. Judy has also represented physicians and physician groups in forming partnerships, professional corporations, limited liability companies and other business entities. She has represented individual providers in negotiating contracts for professional service agreements. Judy has also guided hospital medical staff committees through complicated peer review proceedings, ensuring compliance with the reporting and disclosures requirements of HCQIA. She has represented individual providers in proceedings before the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, Louisiana State Board of Nursing and other licensing boards. After starting her litigation practice in the medical malpractice arena, Judy now also represents clients in all aspects of commercial litigation involving the health care industry. Judy has successfully defended national healthcare clients accused of violating HCFA's fraud and abuse provisions as well as represented clients in unfair trade practices claims, employment disputes, managed care contract disputes, physician disciplinary actions and reimbursement disputes. |
