Judy grew up in Houston and is a native Texan. She was active in speech and debate club in high school and it was her high school speech coach who suggested the possibility of broadcast journalism as a career. Since she loved to write and she was a ham at heart, she thought it was the perfect choice.
She is married to CBS 42 Community Relations Director, Thad Rosenfeld. She has a step-daughter, Stephanie and a daughter, Carly. They also have two dogs named Duncan (after San Antonio Spur Tim Duncan) and Buster.

Judy attended the University of Texas and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in 1981. She's a Longhorn through and through. She was fortunate to land a job in Austin just out of college and never plans to leave, what she calls, the best city on earth.
With 25 years' experience delivering the news in Austin, Judy Maggio is one of the most familiar faces on television in Central Texas. Judy was voted "Best News Anchor in Austin" for eight years running by Austin Chronicle readers. Judy and Fred Cant� tied for the award in 2006.
Judy was also voted WICI's Austin Communicator of the year in 1997.
Judy has had the joy of spending her entire career in Austin. She was hired as an entry level reporter at KVUE-TV in November of 1981 and was promoted to the nightly news anchor spot in 1986. In 2003, she chose to leave KVUE and accepted an Anchor/Managing Editor position at CBS 42.
Judy is an admitted political junkie, and counts her coverage of three presidential inaugurations and four national political conventions among the highlights of her career. She has also interviewed and profiled celebrities such as Lady Bird Johnson and Willie Nelson. She even sang a bar of "On the Road Again" with Willie on his bus. Another career highlight was interviewing one of her role models, Ted Koppel.
Judy is a community advocate, giving her time to many different organizations such as Blue Santa and Children's Hospital of Austin. She also spends time reading to children and speaking at several schools each year, and has emceed dozens of fundraisers.

Judy is an outdoors fanatic and loves hiking, walking, running and swimming. She also enjoys yoga as a way to unwind and relax. Judy is also a big fan of the local live music scene in Austin; she and her husband go out on the town as often as possible to hear their favorite groups.
