Ms. Greer practices general civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. Her practice has emphasized intellectual property, unfair competition, and breach of contract and business tort cases. Ms. Greer represents plaintiffs and defendants in actions involving Internet law, copyright and other intellectual property issues. In this dynamic area, her practice has included representation of the music publisher plaintiffs in the highly-publicized Napster case. See A&M Records, Inc. et al. v. Napster, Inc., 239 F.3d 1004 (9th Cir. 2001). She also represented the Recording Industry Association of America in its litigation against MP3Board.com under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and counsels and represents a leading manufacturer and marketer of medical diagnostic products for the consumer and professional markets on various issues related to advertising. In addition, Ms. Greer represents clients in unfair business practices claims, breach of contract and business tort cases, and securities actions. Professional Activities Ms. Greer is a member of the California State Bar and Bar Association of San Francisco. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Greer served as clerk for Judge Samuel Conti of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Education Ms. Greer graduated, magna cum laude, from Western Kentucky University with a bachelors degree in Performing Arts in 1987. She earned her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1998. While at Boalt Hall, she was comments editor for the Berkeley Women's Law Journal, a member of the California Law Review, and received the Joanie Caucus Foundation award. She has also served as a volunteer with the Hopi Appellate Project and has performed as a vocalist with rock and jazz bands. |
