Julie assists clients with brownfields redevelopment; environmental-compliance and transactional due diligence; environmental remedies; and real estate development.Julie's recent work includes: Representing a private equity investor in the environmental and regulatory due-diligence aspects of acquiring a controlling interest in a major company operating throughout the southeastern U.S. that provides emergency environmental-response and remediation services. Assisting a commercial redeveloper of a large legacy industrial building in the Minneapolis warehouse district with pre-purchase environmental due diligence and post-closing securing of environmental assurances from Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). Representing a South Dakota residential subdivider and developer in the defense and settlement of a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency administrative order for compliance involving multiple violations of the Clean Water Act. Work included negotiating and drafting conservation easements and deed restrictions.Assisting a rural Minnesota livestock-auction facility with NPDES permitting and other regulatory compliance matters related to pollution, discharge runoff, and an enforcement action by the MPCA.Handling issues related to real estate, land use, environmental due diligence, environmental permitting, and water appropriation for a national ethanol-facility developer in acquiring multiple sites across the U.S.Assisting an agricultural lender in the financing of a complex ethanol facility. Work involved title issues related to railroad interests and contract issues related to rail access and rights of way.Julie also provides pro bono legal assistance to the Hennepin County Housing Court Project and Linea Legal Latina (a legal hotline for low-income Spanish-speaking individuals).
