As one of the original founding directors, Kal helped establish Ostrow Reisin Berk & Abrams, Ltd. in 1977. Prior to that, he was a partner and staff associate with the national firm of Laventhol & Horwath (L&H) for seven years, and with Miller, Mandell & Company for six years before the merger with L&H. Kal has over thirty-five years of experience providing accounting, tax, and business consulting services for business owners in many industries, including real estate, distribution, professional services, manufacturing, and others. Kal is particularly keen in identifying strategies that benefit business owners, preserving their funds and placing them in the most advantageous tax position possible.
Kal is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society. He has served as chairman of the Ethics Committee for the ICPAS, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Community Bank of Ravenswood, Chicago. Kal was also a member of the Board of Directors for both the Westbank/Will County/Joliet, Illinois, and Water Tower Bank, Chicago, Illinois. He has served on the board and as president of the Hillel Torah North Suburban Day School, and was past chairman of the accountant's division of the Jewish United Fund. Kal is currently on the Board of Directors of Associated Talmud Torahs, and is treasurer of Congregation K.I.N.S.
Kal has lectured on accounting and auditing at Roosevelt University, and he has been a discussion leader at various Illinois CPA Society seminars. He received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Roosevelt University. |
