Mohit Chhabra Profile :
Analyst - Summit Blue Consulting LLC

Mohit Chhabra Biography :

Mr. Chhabra joined Summit Blue Consulting in March 2007 as an Analyst. Since joining Summit Blue, Mr. Chhabra has analyzed the potential, cost-effectiveness, and impacts for several energy efficiency measures, including the effect local climate variations has on the effectiveness on these measures. He analyzed energy usage trends in low income housing in Phoenix, Arizona and Reno, Nevada and analyzed the effectiveness of various energy efficiency measures and their interactive effects. He has also made a library of calibrated residential and commercial building models. Currently he is working on designing a database using MS Access and SQL for energy efficiency measures, their effectiveness, market penetration and life cycle costs. His areas of expertise include the analysis of building energy trends, calibrated hourly energy simulations using DOE2, TRNSYS and the new Energy plus engines and analysis of effectiveness of using renewable energy measures in different climate zones. Recent project work includes: Development of Cost-Effective Measure Incentives (Arizona Public Service). This project involved the research and development of reasonable and cost-effective incentives for various energy efficiency improvements in residential and non-residential facilities throughout the utility s service territory. Primary project tasks included analysis of low income housing in Arizona and studying the effects of various envelope, HVAC efficiency measures, building a library of calibrated building simulation models for both the residential and commercial sectors and making a database that links customer program and individual measure information along with performing statistical analysis on the collected data. Tribal Renewable Energy Program (Pawnee Nation). Mr. Chhabra is a part of the Summit Blue staff currently working closely with the Council of Energy Resource Tribes to identify barriers to the development of renewable energy on tribal lands and ways to overcome these barriers. Materials were developed for a series of workshops that focused on integrated resource planning, renewable technologies, transmission access, organizational development, and financial analysis of renewable projects. His tasks include analysis of the potential and economic feasibility of solar energy and small wind energy utilization measures in Pawnee Nation, Oklahoma. An Update to California s Database for energy efficiency resources (DEER). The Database for Energy Efficient Resources (DEER) is a California Energy Commission and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) sponsored database designed to provide well-documented estimates of energy and peak demand savings values, measure costs, and effective useful life (EUL) all with one data source. As a part of the effort to review and revise the DEER database, Mr. Chhabra reviewed the original DEER database, analyzed its results and proposed statistical criteria to make changes to the DEER database. He is currently working on making a new structure for the DEER database using SQL code language and Access. Summit Blue aims to make DEER database forms available online for different manufacturers to enter their product data. Boulder One Plaza Energy audit. Boulder One Plaza is a prominent building in downtown Boulder, which was having problems dividing the energy and gas usage amongst its various tenants. This project involved the assessment of the buildings current and past energy consumption trends, taking an audit, developing a detailed simulation model and coming up with suitable metrics to divide their electricity and gas bills. Prior to working with Summit Blue, Mr. Chhabra held a junior researcher position with Boulder County Public Health where he programmed auto-samplers, repaired ozone analyzers, took measurements of ozone around Boulder County, and worked with the EPA to calibrate all measuring equipment and standardize measurement procedure. Mr. Chhabra received a BE in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune, India and an MS in Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
