Monica's practice includes representation of debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, and creditors' committees in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Recently, Monica has worked on the Chapter 11 cases of Mirant Corporation, Next Wave Personal Communications, Ultimate Electronics, HIA Trading Associates (Odd Jobs), AirCanada, US Air, United Airlines, Fannie Mae Candies and Snyders Drugstores. Monica also had major roles in the Chapter 11 cases of Panaco, Inc., Bayou Steel Corporation, I.G. Services, Ltd. (Inverworld), Pacific USA, and Senior Living Properties.
Monica routinely represents Navistar Financial Corporation in all chapters of bankruptcy cases.
Monica has received a "BV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell indicating a very high ethical standard and a high to very high legal ability. A "BV" rating is the maximum rating for a lawyer at Monica's experience level. Monica was also named a "Texas Rising Star" in April 2007 by Texas Monthly magazine. Rising Stars are the top up-and-coming Texas attorneys who are 40 or younger or have been in practice for fewer than 10 years. Only 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state were chosen for this honor.
