Monique Morneault is counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Chicago office. Monique is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department and focuses her practice on domestic and foreign patents and trademarks, including preparation and filing of applications, prosecution, licensing, counseling and litigation.
Prior to joining McDermott, Monique practiced in a full-service intellectual property law firm for over ten years. She is experienced in coordinating international patents, including filings under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), overseeing completion of formalities required for all foreign filings and counseling clients on the specific requirements for filing in various countries. She is also experienced in establishing mutually beneficial relationships with foreign intellectual property firms to ensure efficient and timely filing of applications worldwide.
Prior to private practice, Monique performed genetic engineering research in the biotechnology department of a multi-national petroleum company, as well as assisted in the filing and prosecution of chemical-related patent applications.
Monique has co-authored the article, "A Brighter Future for Protecting Computer Software in Europe," Global eCommerce Law and Business Report, March 2002.
She received her bachelor of science degree in microbiology.
Monique's professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC) - International Patent Committee, the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (IAPIP) and Professional Women's Club of Chicago (PWCC).
Monique is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and before the Supreme Court of the State of Illinois, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
