BACKGROUND: Steven was born in Hollywood, Florida and grew up in Boca Raton, Florida. He received his B.A. from the University of Florida. While in undergrad, Steven served as Director for the Florida Blue Key Speaker's Bureau Speech & Debate tournament, was a Florida Cicerone, and was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. In 2006, Steven graduated the University of Florida Levin College of Law with honors. During law school, Steven continued to stay active in extracurricular activities. He served as President of the John Marshall Bar Association, was a member of the Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court team, and was on the Florida Journal of International Law. Steven was also selected to represent UF Law as a study abroad participant at Leiden University located in the Netherlands where he focused on International law. Steven was awarded student of the year for UF Law during the 2005-2006 school year. Steven practices in the areas of litigation, health care and corporate law. EXPERIENCE: Steve has experience in reviewing and drafting hospital procedures, medical staff bylaws, physician-hospital service agreements, physician recruitment agreements, outsourcing agreements, articles of incorporation, operating agreements, and legislation for hospitals. Additionally, Steve has experience researching and analyzing state regulations of hospitals, licensure and certification issues as well as the Patient Referrals Act ("Stark"), the Medicare and Medicaid Patient and Program Protection Act ("Anti-Kickback Statute"), the Health Insurance Portability Act, and the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act ("EMTALA"). Steve has exposure to litigation as well as general corporate law. He is licensed to practice in Florida and has a pending admission to the Washington DC bar.
