Nancy R. Barbour, as a Government Policy Advisor, develops and implements legislative and regulatory strategies for clients including legislative analysis, direct lobbying and coalition building and interfacing with federal agencies. Her work in Washington D.C. has been featured by the Detroit News, Detroit Free Press and Crain's Detroit Business among other publications. Prior to coming to Dykema, Ms. Barbour had extensive Congressional experience as a longtime Legislative Director to Congressman William Ford, and as a legislative assistant to Congressman Bob Traxler, Congressman Herbert Harris and the late Senator Philip A. Hart. Since joining the private sector, Ms. Barbour has represented both public and private clients before the Congress and regulatory agencies. She has helped clients maximize the federal benefits to which they are entitled through interfacing with Congressional members and staff and through coalition building toward mutual aims. Ms. Barbour previously worked for APCO Associates, a subsidiary of the D.C. law firm Arnold & Porter. Ms. Barbour is a recipient of commendations from several public entities and she is a frequent speaker at educational seminars. She serves on the Board of Advisors to the Close Up Foundation. She also served on the Citizens Advisory Board of the Virginia Baseball Stadium Authority. She has been elected to a second term to the Citizens Research Foundation, an organization seeking reform of the federal election system. Ms. Barbour received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan. She is not a lawyer. |
