Nancy W. Newkirk is a Managing Director in Major, Lindsey & Africa�s Washington, D.C. office. Her practice focuses on the representation of individual partners and practice groups and partner recruiting for law firms. Nancy has both legal recruiting experience and significant expertise across a broad range of fields as a law firm partner, advocate, mediator, and senior executive. She has experience in private law firm practice, trade association, industry, not-for-profit, and federal government practice.
Immediately prior to joining MLA, Nancy was a partner in a retained legal search firm in the D.C. area where she recruited partners for AmLaw 100 law firms. She has also served as a partner at the national law firm of Perkins Coie, a director of a leading trade association, Vice President & General Counsel of a national environmental not-for-profit organization, and an associate at two law firms. In addition, she served as an attorney in the federal government and as in-house counsel for an energy company. Nancy was also a professional mediator working with courts, companies, federal and state governments and citizen groups to resolve disputes. Her specialty was environmental, energy and natural resources law.
Nancy has served as a board member for a number of professional associations. She held leadership positions in the American Bar Association, the D.C. Bar Association and the Women�s Bar Association of D.C.
Nancy earned her J.D. at New York University School of Law and her B.A., with honors, at Finch College in New York.
Nancy and her husband, who is also an attorney, live in Bethesda, Maryland. She enjoys skiing, sailing, swimming, opera, travel, and gardening. |
