Naomi S. Travers is counsel on the Telecommunications and Mass Media Team with 15 years experience in the regulatory, business and legal sides of the entertainment and media industry.
Before joining the firm, Naomi held various executive positions for media and entertainment companies, including executive vice president for media rights and entertainment for Bobcats Sports and Entertainment LLC in Charlotte NC, overseeing media and operations for the NBA Charlotte Bobcats. Before moving to Charlotte, N.C., Travers was executive vice president of The RLJ Companies in Washington, D.C., a diverse portfolio of companies in the financial services, asset management, real estate, hospitality, professional sports, film production and gaming industries. She also was assistant general counsel, for business development at Black Entertainment Television, Inc., in Washington, D.C. Before moving to the business side of the industry, she was an associate at another Washington, D.C., firm.
Naomi was a staff attorney with the Federal Communications Commission in its mass media bureau from 1994 to 1996. Immediately following law school, Naomi served as a law clerk to the Honorable Wendell P. Gardner, Jr., of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
In General. Naomi earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. She received the Cunningham Award for community service and was a Maryland Senatorial Scholarship recipient. She was also the managing editor of the American Bar Association�s The Business Lawyer. She received her bachelor�s degree, cum laude, from Howard University. While an undergrad, Naomi interned for USA TODAY, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
Naomi is a member of the board of directors of DCTV/Public Access Corporation of the District of Columbia. She was the Commencement Speaker at Strayer University in 2005 and Alumnae of the Year, Howard University School of Communications in 2004. |
