Neal Brody is a Director of LECG. Mr. Brody's primary area of expertise is in resolving complex liability and response issues associated with hydrocarbon and hazardous waste releases. For over 16 years he has counseled public entity and corporate decision-makers on enforcement, allocation and remediation issues. Mr. Brody is a skilled negotiator who specializes in identifying and communicating complex legal and factual issues and then building consensus among competing interests. He has handled hundreds of environmental cases ranging in value of from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of millions. Throughout his career Mr. Brody has been at the forefront of natural resource damages (NRD) cases under the Clean Water Act, CERCLA, and the Oil Pollution Act. He has been an integral member of NRD assessment, negotiation and litigation teams for sediment cases, pipeline and tanker spills and hazardous waste disposal matters. From 1996 through 2000, Mr. Brody served as the chairman of the American Petroleum Institute's Natural Resource Damages Litigation Committee. He has written numerous articles and is a frequent speaker on the subject matter at workshops, seminars and legal conferences. Prior to joining LECG, Mr. Brody was a Senior Environmental Attorney for the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO) at its corporate headquarters in Los Angeles. Before that, he was a Deputy Attorney General for Hazardous Waste Enforcement in the State of New Jersey. Mr. Brody holds a bachelor's degree in government from Wesleyan University and a law degree from Duke University. |
