Neil Steinkamp is a Director in the Dispute Advisory & Forensic Services Group. He has extensive experience providing a broad range of business and financial advice to trial lawyers and in-house counsel throughout the dispute process, including matters involving breach of contract, tortious interference, disputes related to business transactions, post-merger and acquisition disputes, employment and compensation disputes, personal economic damages, bankruptcy, eminent domain, divorce, shareholder disputes and construction claims. Additionally, Mr. Steinkamp has performed business valuation analyses in and outside of litigation. Mr. Steinkamp s experience encompasses a wide array of industries, including construction contractors, sub-contractors, material suppliers, land developers and others involved in the construction industry. In addition, he has experience with automotive suppliers, OEMs, automobile dealers, manufacturing companies, distributors, transportation and logistics businesses, multi-level marketers, assorted health care practices, fitness facilities and franchises. Mr. Steinkamp has lectured and presented continuing education seminars on the subject of litigation advisory services, business valuation, building information modeling, and assorted matters regarding construction disputes and financial topics. He is currently a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation Sections and Construction Litigation Committee), Construction Financial Management Association (Tax and Legislative Affairs Committee & Accounting and Reporting Committee), MACPA Construction Industry Task Force, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Original Equipment Suppliers Association, and the Engineering Society of Detroit. He has also been elected to the Board of Directors of the Construction Specifications Institute (Metro Detroit Chapter). In addition, Mr. Steinkamp is a member of the National Association of Forensic Economics (NAFE) and American Academy of Economic and Financial (AAEFE). Prior to joining our firm, Mr. Steinkamp was a Manager in the Forensic, Litigation and Valuation Services practice of UHY. Prior to his time with UHY, Mr. Steinkamp served as Chief Operations Officer of GD Builder, Inc. In this role, Mr. Steinkamp was responsible for site development activities, contractor relations, on-site construction progress and management of site superintendents. Mr. Steinkamp was also responsible for the review, inspection, research, and response to all warranty and service claims during his tenure. Mr. Steinkamp was involved in land development as well as the construction of attached condominiums, single-family residential homes, and custom built homes. In addition to his role as Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Steinkamp was involved in information systems developments and controls for several contractors with related operations. Mr. Steinkamp earned a BA from the Honors College of Michigan State University (Broad School of Business), graduating magna cum laude. He has earned the right to use the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation. In addition, Mr. Steinkamp has been approved as a construction disputes arbitrator by Construction Disputes Resolution Services. |
