Nicholas Barranca was named Vice President, Product Development in September 2001. Barranca, a 31-year postal veteran, reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of all new products and services.
Earlier, as Vice President, Operations Planning and Processing, Barranca was responsible for national processing activities and strategic and tactical operations planning.
Barranca also has held the position of vice president, operations support, and directed the day-to-day support for logistics, delivery, in-plant operations, address management, systems implementation and performance measurement. Barranca also has served as manager, in-plant operations; director, office of delivery and customer service; director, office of automation integration; and executive director, employee involvement and quality of working life.
Barranca entered the Postal Service as a management associate in the operations department of the Baltimore, MD, Post Office in 1973. He went on to hold field positions of increasing responsibility, including manager of Control and Logistics at the Pittsburgh Bulk Mail Center.
Born in Washington, Barranca holds both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland.
