A true home-grown southern Californian, Nick Pappas was born and raised in Riverside, California. As a 15 year-old high school student, he entered a carpenter apprenticeship program and thus began his career and life-long love of homebuilding. As an accomplished union carpenter, Mr. Pappas was able to work his way through UCLA and on to become a general superintendent, Vice President of Construction and Division President for several well-respected southern California home building companies.
In 1993, he was recruited by K. Hovnanian Companies to pioneer the Company's expansion and entrance into the southern California market he knew so well. Before establishing the current K. Hovnanian Companies of California in 1994, Mr. Pappas spent a year training and managing K. Hovnanian's Jersey Shore Division while commuting to his young family on the west coast.
In the 10 years since K. Hovnanian Companies has been in California, Mr. Pappas has managed to utilize creative approaches to lead and expand the Company into one of southern California's most successful builders. He and his team have delivered over 5,000 homes in 25 different communities in a vast geography that currently stretches from Bakersfield to the Mexican border and Palm Springs to the southern California coast, and with a full range of product types including first-time buyer, first and second move-up, luxury and active adult communities.
In addition to the nuts-and-bolts part of the business, Mr. Pappas has extended himself to furthering the homebuilding industry through education and charitable endeavors. He is a past Director and current gold-level member of the California Building Industry Association, and a past President of the Riverside Chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He devotes considerable staff time to HomeAid through their very popular "Project Playhouse" and is a frequent speaker at Urban Land Institute educational seminars and the annual Pacific Coast Builders' Conference. |
