As head of hotel operations for Millennium Partners, Pamela Malkani is the company�s key liaison and strategist working with its five-star hotel partners, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. It�s a job that puts her at the front line of operations and asset management for Millennium, which has recently established itself as a major developer of luxury hotels in the U.S. with a portfolio of six Ritz-Carlton and two Four Seasons properties in five cities.Ms. Malkani takes on her new role having recently overseen completion of The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences San Francisco, the company�s new 277-room hotel on Market Street that also features 142 luxury condominiums.Ms. Malkani, a senior lodging industry executive, joined Millennium is 1996 expressly to help the developer implement a hotel business strategy. One of her key areas of focus has been the successful introduction of The Phillips Club, the company�s extended-stay lodging and membership residence in Manhattan, which opened in 1997. Located directly across from Lincoln Center, the 180-room, 10-story Phillips Club has become New York�s premier residential club-hotel, a concept spearheaded by Ms. Malkani. The Phillips Club is comprised of two lodging alternatives one the extended-stay lodging catering to an A-list roster of performing artists, business and corporate guests, and frequent visitors to New York, the other a fractional ownership club, affording members the chance to own an amenity-rich New York City residence for pre-assigned stays throughout the year. The fractional ownership component was introduced in 2000. Ms. Malkani also helped direct development of a second extended-stay property, The Residential Suites at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Towers, which opened on Boston Common in the summer of 2000. This 63-suite offering is the first luxury extended-stay product in Boston. In addition to featuring top-tier furnishings and full modern kitchens, The Residential Suites offer guests full signing privileges at the adjacent Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common, including use of the 100,000 square-foot Sports Club/LA.The marketing of high-end business and resort lodgings is second nature to Ms. Malkani. Prior to Millennium, she spent five years as director of sales and marketing for the U.N. Plaza-Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan (1991-96). The 427-room hotel was a perennial award-winner during her tenure. From 1983-91 she worked at the 2200-room New York Hilton & Towers, rising from a Sales Trainee to the hotel�s Director of Marketing and member of the Executive Committee.A native of Bombay, India, Ms. Malkani, came to the U.S. in 1983, having previously served as Director of Sales & Marketing for the Fariyas Hotels & Resorts in Bombay, as well as catering sales manager for the renowned Taj Mahal Intercontinental in Bombay. She received a degree in hotel management and catering technology from the Institute of Hotel Management in Bombay in 1977. |
