Pat Hatler is executive vice president and Chief Legal and Governance Officer for Nationwide, one of the largest diversified insurance and financial services companies in the world. She was elected to this position in 2003 and joined Nationwide in 1999.
She previously served as general counsel and corporate secretary for Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia. Her legal career also includes service with Dechert, Price and Rhoads in Philadelphia; Fulbright and Jaworski in Houston; and Stinson, Mag and Fizzel in Kansas City.
Hatler is a member of the Columbus Bar Association�s conference of Corporate General Counsels and has been a hearing committee officer for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board. She also serves on the board of directors of the Association of Corporate Counsel and the United Way of Central Ohio.
She is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University, where she earned a bachelor�s degree with honors in cognitive psychology. She earned her law degree from the University of Virginia, where she was a Hardy Dillard Fellow.
