Patrick C. James was named president of Elanco Animal Health, a division of Eli Lilly and Company, in March 2001. He also is a member of the company's senior management council. He had been executive director and chief procurement officer since 1998.
James earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1976 and a master's degree in marketing in 1978, both from Indiana University.
He joined Elanco in 1978 as an animal products sales representative. He worked in several sales territories before transferring to the home office in Indianapolis in early 1980 as a market research analyst. He has subsequently held a number of positions in marketing, human resources and sales management. In 1990, he was named area director for Asia-Pacific operations and was located in Singapore.
