Patrick M. His ever-expanding base of contacts with established and emerging political leaders reinforces his ability to develop successful policy initiatives and execute winning strategies.Mr. Murphy began his Washington career as an appointee at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and moved on to serve as the Director of State Government Relations at the U.S. Synthetic Fuels Corporation. He continued in that role for the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, known as Freddie Mac, and was named resident of the Government Relations Group of a national public finance law firm, Kutak Rock, in 1990. He established his lobbying practice in 1993 and has represented numerous corporations, Wall Street investment banks, local and county governments, labor unions, health-care and technology firms for the past 17 years.In addition to his government relations work, he served in the Clinton Presidential Transition as a team leader developing long-term plans for the management and legislative divisions within the U.S. Treasury Department. In 1992, Mr. Murphy worked as senior staff for the Clinton Economic Summit and later was appointed by President Bill Clinton to a four-year term as a Member-at-Large of the Democratic National Committee. He has previously represented Nevada on th Democratic National Committee and was DNC Vice Chair for the statewide officers, which included attorney generals, lieutenant governors, state treasurers and secretaries of state.Mr. Murphy remains a central figure in candidate recruitment and mentoring rising political leaders at the state and federal levels. His Capitol Hill townhouse is a favored location for state party, gubernatorial and congressional gatherings of Democratic insiders.Prior to moving to Washington, DC, Mr. Murphy had an accomplished public service career serving two terms in the Nevada Legislature.
