Patrick R. Northam
Patrick is a member of the Corporate and Commercial Practice Group, and is the Energy and Natural Resources Team Co-Chair. He represents numerous public and privately-owned industrial, commercial and service businesses in connection with mergers, divestitures, acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures, intellectual property licenses, recourse and non-recourse financings, executive employment and compensation plans, and general corporate and commercial matters, including in the areas of fossil fuel and renewable energy services, natural gas, coal, steel tank fabrication, sporting goods, distilled spirits, telecommunications, paints and coatings, engineering and public works, aluminum smelting, newspapers, employee benefit and actuarial consulting, real estate brokerage, franchised restaurants and commercial graphics.
Patrick is also principal legal advisor to national and regional energy services companies with responsibility for numerous domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, power project developments, strategic alliances and other corporate and transactional matters. Among the significant transactions for which he has been lead counsel is an approximate $1 billion hostile takeover of a bankrupt rural cooperative in one of the largest and most complicated bankruptcies in U.S. history.
