Mr. Wilhelm is an employment litigator. He represents regional and national employers in all aspects of discrimination and wage-and-hour issues, and counsels employers on workforce management. Mr. Wilhelm has represented employers in both state and federal courts in Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky, and before the EEOC. He has litigated matters involving non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, has defended employers against claims of harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation, ERISA claims, and wage-and-hour claims under the FLSA, and has represented employers in contractual disputes with executives and others. He has also counseled employers on the FMLA, overtime exemption issues, and hiring and firing. Prior to joining Dykema, Mr. Wilhelm practiced for over three years in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Mr. Wilhelm has been active in both civic and professional life. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), active with both the Young Lawyers and Employment Law Committees of DRI, serving also on the Steering Committees of both. He has also been active with the Notre Dame Alumni Clubs of Cincinnati and Detroit, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Notre Dame Club of Detroit. In Cincinnati, Mr. Wilhelm served as a Campaign Division Leader for the United Way of Greater Cincinnati, and coordinated special events for the local campaign. In Detroit, Mr. Wilhelm served as a member of the inaugural Leadership Team for Leadership Next, a program of the United Way for Southeastern Michigan that is committed to engaging emerging talent to create a vibrant and caring community in the Detroit region.
While in law school, Mr. Wilhelm earned the A. Harold Weber Award for Excellence in Essay Writing. Mr. Wilhelm also served as Solicitation Editor and Executive Board Member with the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics and Public Policy and the Thomas J. White Center on Law and Government. He also served for two years as the Assistant Rector of Sorin College at the University of Notre Dame, and as a student attorney with the Legal Aid and Defender Association of Detroit. |
