Paul Finkelstein is Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Regis Corporation, the worldwide leader in the $150 billion hair salon industry that operates and franchises more than 12,000 salons in North America and internationally.
Finkelstein joined Regis as Executive Vice President in 1987, and became President and Chief Operating Officer in 1988. He served the company as President and CEO from 1996 to 2004 and was named Chairman in May 2004. During his tenure, Regis has grown from 659 salons, operating in two divisions with annual sales of $172 million in 1987 to nearly 12,000 salons worldwide in six divisions. Last year, Regis salons around the world recorded 160 million system-wide customer visits.
Finkelstein has been in the salon industry for more than 40 years. In 1966, he joined Glemby International, which operated department store-based beauty salons, and in 15 years he helped build sales from $35 million to $150 million. In 1981, he joined the Seligman & Latz (S&L) salon chain as Chairman of its Beauty Division, where he was responsible for the operating results of 1,000 beauty salons. In 1984, he was named CEO of Turner Hall Corporation, a Bass Brothers' LBO, which was sold to Revlon three years later. Finkelstein served as a Senior Vice President at Revlon before joining Regis.
Finkelstein earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and obtained his Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
In addition to the Regis Board of Directors, Finkelstein serves on the New York Stock Exchange Advisory Board. He was a board member of the Young Presidents' Organization for 20 years, and for two years chaired the New York Metro Chapter. He is an active member of the Chief Executives' Organization.
