Paul D. Hatch serves as Director of Government Relations at McDermott Will & Emery. Resident in the Firm�s Washington, D.C. office, Paul has extensive experience advising Fortune 500 companies, large privately-held businesses and non-profit entities on administrative lobbying efforts and legislative strategies. He represents clients before Congress, administrative departments and federal, state and local government entities.
Prior to joining McDermott, Paul served as a senior consultant at the largest government relations firm in Washington, D.C., where he focused on obtaining federal funding for his clients� projects as well as securing and negotiating contracts with federal, state and local government entities.
Paul has extensive experience lobbying issues on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch. He has represented clients involved in Congressional investigations and hearings and has assisted Presidential appointees through the Senate confirmation process. With the help of his extensive relationships and contacts in the Bush Administration, he has assisted a diverse group of clients in solving problems with the executive branch as well as taking advantage of opportunities afforded by a wide range of federal programs.
Beginning in 1991, Paul served as Finance Director, Treasurer and Advisor for the gubernatorial campaigns and political operation of Gov. Mike Leavitt. In 1994, Gov. Leavitt asked Paul to serve as Executive Director of the Republican Governors Association (RGA). During his RGA tenure, Paul worked closely with America�s Republican Governors and their staffs, including several governors who now hold key positions in the Bush Administration. Paul also served as the governors� liaison to the Republican leadership in Congress, establishing valuable relationships with the leadership in the House and Senate. He represents current and former members of Congress in various matters.
For over thirty years, Paul has been involved in countless presidential, senatorial, congressional and gubernatorial campaigns. Paul served as a consultant to the Bush/Cheney 2004 Campaign, assisting with fund-raising, legal issues and special projects. He also served as the Chairman of the Republican National Committee�s (RNC) Victory �96 Program as well as Deputy Director of the RNC�s Political Division.
Paul majored in finance and economics at the College of Business, University of Utah, and received his J.D. in 1978 from that University�s College of Law.
