Paul F. Beatty, a partner in the Corporate Department for twenty-eight years and now of counsel to the firm, was Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee from 1981 through 1988, and is a former member of the firm's Management Committee. His practice primarily involves transactions associated with conducting a business, such as the acquisition of another business, the spin-off or sale of a division, and the financing associated with those transactions and with continuing operations. He also works with senior managers of businesses to develop appropriate strategies and to implement plans to keep their businesses competitive and vigorous. Mr. Beatty successfully recovered some $10 million in state taxes for one of his clients. He has advised several other clients in the acquisition, disposition or reorganization of businesses in the food, television, radio and petroleum industries, and he has generally assisted clients in financing acquisitions and operations.
