Paul Burton joined Plug Power Inc. in October 1999 as Vice President of Manufacturing and was appointed Vice President of GenCore Engineering in February 2005. He is charged with leading the company�s GenCore� backup fuel cell system product lines, which provides premium backup power for telecom, utility and commercial customers who must ensure critical applications operate at the highest reliability.
Prior to joining Plug Power, Mr. Burton spent five years with Wabtec Corporation as Vice President and General Manager of their Engine Systems Company. Previous to that position, Mr. Burton was the Managing Director of the Northeast Manufacturing Technology Center, a joint venture between the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the New York State Science and Technology Foundation. Mr. Burton also spent ten years with General Electric in various positions of increasing responsibility that concluded with Manager of Operations.
Mr. Burton is a board member of the Capital Region�s Chief Executive Network for Manufacturing, and has been active in supporting technology programs in local high schools and colleges. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Union College and graduated from General Electric�s corporate Manufacturing Management Program.
