Paul J. Karch is a member of the Firm's Corporate Practice Group and is based in the Madison office. Paul advises companies on growth, operational, financing and acquisition and disposition issues and specializes in Employee Stock Ownership Transactions. Paul joined the Firm as a shareholder in 2007. Paul worked at Appleton Papers Inc. in Appleton, Wisconsin from 1994 through 2006, where he served as legal counsel; general counsel; executive officer with responsibility for law, human resources, environment, health and safety, and communications; and was a member of the board of directors. While at Appleton, he led the project team which created and funded an employee stock ownership plan and acquired the company from its European parent. Paul began his law practice in San Diego, California in 1983 with the law firm of Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps. Paul has been active in community organizations and has served as Chairman of ThedaCare, Easter Seals Wisconsin and the Appleton Education Foundation. He also served on the Board of and as Policy Committee Chair for the ESOP S Corporation Association. Paul graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in economics and received his law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1982.
